Too Many Tabs Open on Your Browser? Chrome is Coming up with a New Feature that Helps Manage Your Browser

Let’s admit, we all have different ways of working. Some of us prefer to have just a couple of browsers opened on our screens. But if you’re like some of us, you thrive when everything is open and in sight.

But we can all agree that having 20 tabs open in your browser at any one time has a negative effect on productivity…and well, just makes things more complicated and hard to find.

We’ve all been there: clicking and looking through each tab to try and find what you were working on before lunch. And this just takes more time than necessary.

But this might not be a problem for much longer because Microsoft is currently working on a solution.

There is a new feature in Microsoft browser Edge that’s going to debut soon: Workspaces.

Microsoft Workspaces was originally revealed a year ago, back in April 2021. But since then, Microsoft has gone quiet about it. We assumed it was dead in the water.

But a preview build of Edge that’s just come out for developers includes an option to create new Workspaces. So, it looks like we could all be seeing the feature rolled out in the months ahead.

Workspaces allows you to group together browser tabs, and open or close groups with a click.

There are a number of ways you can use this feature. One way that you can use it is to keep work-related and personal information separate. Or you can even group together information relating to different projects.

You can name groups and color code groups to make it easier to find what you’re looking for.

Another great feature that is offers is keeping all your tabs saved waiting for you when you close and reopen Edge.

There’s no release date for this yet. But if you can’t wait to get stuck in, more good news – Googles’ Chrome browser already offers a similar feature called tab groups!

And with tab groups, you can do the same groupings and organizing in Googles’ Chrome browser too: simple right-click lets you group together tabs, label them and color code them too. You can even reorder them on your tab strip to organise them further.
